Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

Licensees in New Hampshire have free access to CE Broker, a leading continuing education system that offers CE Tracking and the ability to search for approved courses.  For more information, including how to access your free account, please click here.
 

License Type: Master Electrician
CE Hours Total=15 hours

  • 1 hour of instruction shall concern:
    • Changes to RSA 319-C;
    • Changes to the Board’s rules; and
    • The installation concerns for electrical installations, as determined by the board and available on the board’s website under the heading, “licensing and installation concerns."
CE Cycle 1 year (due within one year from the January 1 following the publication date of the latest version of the NFPA 70) 
Required Subject Areas ★  Code Update
Are the requirements different for the first renewal? No
CE Audit Requirements 10%; Plc 308.04(d)
Can CEs roll over? No
Is there a restriction on CE delivery methods (e.g., licensee can only take live courses)? No

CE Hours Total=30 hours

  • Required only for those seeking fifth renewal of apprentice card who have not yet achieved a journeyman electrician license
CE Cycle 1 year (due within one year from the January 1 following the publication date of the latest version of the NFPA 70)

CE Providers

Journeyman Electrician and Master Electrician
Continuing education courses shall be approved by the Board.
Sponsors of continuing education courses may apply for approval through CE Broker.  During the application process, applicants shall provide the following information:

  • The sponsor’s resume;
  • A copy of the sponsor’s electrician license.  If not licensed in New Hampshire, the sponsor shall provide a certified letter from the licensing agency verifying the sponsor has a valid license in good standing in another jurisdiction.  
  • A course outline
  • Instructor information:
    • Names
    • Copies of electrician licenses
    • Resumes
  • Location(s) of the courses
  • Types of audio and visual equipment utilized
  • Course curriculum, which shall include the name of the program or the course material utilized

Apprentice Electrician Supplemental Education
Any apprentice with a current NH apprentice identification card who has completed the 600 hours of education but has not achieved a journeyman electrician license before the fifth renewal of the apprentice identification card shall successfully complete 30 hours of classroom instruction each year before the identification card shall be renewed.  These supplemental education courses shall be approved by the Board.

Sponsors of continuing education courses may apply for approval through CE Broker.  During the application process, applicants shall provide the following information:

  • A course outline that includes:
    • Areas of deficiency identified by the board from the average of the most recent journeyman examination results
    • Installation concerns for electrical installations, as determined by the board
  • Instructor information:
    • Names
    • Resumes
  • Location(s) of the courses
  • Number of days and number of hours per day over which courses will be given
