How do I schedule my exam?

All testing is coordinated through DL Roop Administrations: DL Roope Administrations LLC. You will need to contact them directly and schedule your testing. Once testing is completed, you need to provide OPLC with a copy of the passing exam, a copy of your transcripts if you attended a school and apply for an initial license. 

How do I record my apprentice hours?

Please use this form and make sure to include your license number: Apprenticeship Hour Sheet

Your hours are due by the 15th of the following month. You can mail them to the office or email them to: oplclicensing6@oplc.nh.gov
Please retain copies of your hours for your own records; OPLC will not provide copies upon request.

My license has expired, how do I renew it?

If your license has been expired for less than one year, you will need to complete the reinstatement application located on the Application page and include the Reinstatement fee.

If your license has been expired for one year or more, you will need to complete the Initial application for your license type.

How will I receive my license?

We process all applications in the order in which they are received. Please allow 10-14 business days for processing or contact from OPLC.

OPLC issues licenses via email to the email address you provided on your application.

To ensure you are receiving communication from OPLC in a timely manner, please add the following address to your contact list in your email account: nh.licenses@doit.nh.gov and oplclicensing6@oplc.nh.gov

How does OPLC contact me?

OPLC primarily uses email to reach out to applicants and licensees. We use the email address you designated on your initial application. If you have an online account, you can update your contact information by logging in and updating your personal information.
 

How will I receive my renewal notice?

OPLC will issue your renewal notice 60-days prior to your expiration date via email as a courtesy. Please add nh.licenses@doit.nh.gov to your contacts to ensure you receive the notice in your main inbox.

You cannot renew a license more than 60-days prior to the expiration date.
 

What do I need to open a shop?

You will need to complete a shop application and questionnaire.

You can mail or bring that to our office located at 7 Eagle Square, Concord, NH, along with the fee.

You will need to check with your town/city to make sure that you are in compliance with plumbing, electrical, and building codes.

When all the necessary documents are received, an inspector will contact you at the phone number and/or email address that you provided with your application with an appointment date and time for your inspection.

What do I need to open a shop in my home?

You should check with your town first to make sure that zoning allows for home businesses. You also will need ask the town if you are in compliance with plumbing, electrical, and building codes.

You will then need to complete a shop application, questionnaire, and a floor plan that shows where the shop is located in your home. You can draw your own floor plan to be submitted.

Send the completed documents to our office located at 7 Eagle Square, Concord, NH, along with the fee.

When the completed application, questionnaire, and floor plan are received, an inspector will contact you with an appointment date and time for your inspection.

I am selling (transferring ownership), what do I need to do?

You will need to send in writing to our office, located at 7 Eagle Square, Concord, NH, stating your intention to sell/transfer your business at least 21 days prior to the sale/transfer. The buyer/new owner will need to submit a shop application and questionnaire.

I am buying an existing shop, what do I need to do?

You will need to complete a shop application and questionnaire. You can mail or bring the completed application and questionnaire to our office located at 7 Eagle Square, Concord, NH, along with the fee. You will need to check with your town/city to make sure that you are in compliance with plumbing, electrical, and building codes. The seller will need to send a letter to our office stating the intent to sell/transfer the shop at least 21 days prior to the sale/transfer. When all the necessary documents are received completed, an inspector will contact you with an appointment date and time for your inspection.
 

I am relocating my shop, what do I need to do?

You will need to send a letter to our office stating your intention to relocate your business at least 21 days prior to the relocation. 

You will need to complete a shop application and questionnaire. You can mail or bring the completed application to our office located at 7 Eagle Square, Concord, NH, along with the fee. You will need to check with your town/city to make sure that you are in compliance with plumbing, electrical, and building codes. When the completed shop application and questionnaire are received, an inspector will contact you at the phone number and/or email address that you provided with your application with an appointment date and time for your inspection.
 

I am closing my shop, what do I need to do?

You will need to notify the Office of Professional Licensure and Certification, immediately, in writing if your shop or booth ceases to do business.

Can I open for business after my shop passes inspection?

Once you have passed your inspection and approved for licensure, the inspector will contact the licensing specialist with that information, and they will issue the shop license. You will receive your license by email. You must print out the license and post it in your shop before you can open for business.
