Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

License Type: Naturopathic Doctor
CE Hours Total=45 Hours

  • 12 hours shall be in pharmacology or pharmacognosy
  • 3 hours shall be in pain management or addiction disorders.  RSA 328-E:13.

For licensees with a specialty certification in Acupuncture or Naturopathic Childbirth, 12 of the required 45 hours shall also be completed in the licensee’s field(s) of specialty.

Do courses need to be preapproved by the Board?

No.  Courses shall focus on current developments, skills, procedures, or treatment in naturopathic medicine, and cover one or more of the following topics:

  • Human anatomy;
  • Physiology;
  • Biochemistry;
  • Pathology;
  • Pharmacology;
  • Pharmacognosy;
  • Diagnostic methods
  • Botanical medicine;
  • Homeopathy;
  • Nutrition;
  • Naturopathic physical medicine;
  • Psychological counseling;
  • Organ systems;
  • Cardiology;
  • Dermatology;
  • Endocrinology;
  • Eyes, ears, nose, and throat;
  • Gastroenterology;
  • Orthopedics;
  • Neurology;
  • Gynecology;
  • Natural childbirth;
  • Obstetrics;
  • Pediatrics;
  • Geriatrics;
  • Medical emergencies;
  • Acupuncture;
  • Traditional Chinese medicine; and
  • Ayurvedic medicine.

Courses meeting CE requirements and sponsored or certified by the following providers will be accepted for CE credit:

  • A national or state naturopathic medical society;
  • Members of American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (ASPA);
  • Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME);
  • A college, university, or educational entity accredited by one of the following regional accreditors:
    • The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
    • The New England Association of Schools and Colleges
    • The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
    • The Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
    • The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; or
    • The Western Association of Schools and Colleges
